Working Trials & Tracking
My training methods….
As a trainer, I employ positive reward based methods, these methods allow the dog to learn faster and have fun whilst learning.
Positive reward based training is enjoyable for the dog and enhances the relationship between the dog and handler.
Any Breed
This is a very natural and fun activity to teach your dog, all sizes and breeds of dogs can learn and enjoy tracking, it is also one element of the sport of Working Trials.
Locations
Venues across South Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.
What is it?
Tracking
Tracking refers to a dogs ability to detect, recognise and follow a specific scent.
Possessing heightened olfactory abilities, dogs are able to detect, track and locate the source of certain scents.

How I Train
Training
The dog tracks at walking pace on a harness and long line, making this type of activity suitable for any dog regardless of physical limitations. It is also a useful means of exercising your dog under control whilst you perfect a reliable recall in the open.
The activity is tiring for a dog, so despite only tracking short distances, the dog will be mentally tired and require rest periods between tracks when training until stamina for this activity is built.
In working trials tracking, your dog will learn to follow a trail of crushed vegetation and human scent created by someone walking a defined pattern.
Weather variants, wind strength and wind direction all add to the difficulty of the activity.
As the dog gains experience, the length of the track is increased and small articles are placed on the track for the dog to locate.
